KnownAquarium Terms of Use for Readers and Visitors
These terms govern access to KnownAquarium and the use of its text, images, calculations, and other material.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By using KnownAquarium, you agree to these terms and the linked privacy notice and aquarium care disclaimer. If you do not agree, do not use the website.
2. Permitted personal use
- Read, save, or print material for personal reference.
- Link to a public address without asking permission.
- Share a short quotation with clear attribution and a link.
- Discuss the material in a class, aquarium club, or shop.
- Cite the original authority when a fact comes from an external source.
Written permission is required to reproduce a complete page, republish a substantial collection, distribute a translation, or use the material to train a model that redistributes it. Permission requests can be sent through the contact details.
3. Prohibited use
You must not misrepresent KnownAquarium material as your own, remove material safety qualifications, alter a quoted measurement while attributing it to KnownAquarium, or imply an endorsement of a product, seller, treatment, or organisation.
You must not interfere with availability, attempt unauthorised access, introduce malicious code, bypass access restrictions, or collect information in a way that harms other readers. Automated access must respect robots.txt and use a reasonable request rate.
4. Aquarium and veterinary boundaries
Aquarium outcomes vary with species identity, life stage, water source, equipment, stocking, maintenance, and the animal's history. You remain responsible for checking current measurements, product instructions, professional advice, and local law before acting.
5. Accuracy and availability
KnownAquarium is provided in good faith, but no general reference can guarantee that information fits every aquarium or remains current in every jurisdiction. Taxonomy, conservation status, trade restrictions, manufacturer instructions, and scientific evidence can change.
The service is provided as available without a promise of uninterrupted access. Material may be corrected, updated, or removed when necessary.
6. Intellectual property
Original text, layout, and artwork are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. External sources, photographs, and typefaces remain subject to the rights and licences identified with them.
An aquarium illustration must not be presented as documentary proof of a species, disease, measured result, lineage, wild habitat, or commercial product. Removing a credit or licence notice does not remove the original owner's rights.
7. Messages and submitted material
Do not send confidential information or material you do not have permission to share. By sending an error report, source, image, or permission request, you allow KnownAquarium to examine it and respond to the matter raised.
Your name or message will not be made public without permission, except where disclosure is required by law. The privacy notice explains how contact information is handled.
8. External websites
External citations and links lead to services outside KnownAquarium's control. A link supports access to a source or related resource and does not endorse the host's entire content, security, availability, or privacy practices.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, KnownAquarium is not liable for loss, animal harm, property damage, lost data, expense, or other consequences arising from reliance on general information or from interrupted access.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Consumer rights granted by applicable law remain unchanged.
10. Local law
You are responsible for laws governing the purchase, keeping, transport, breeding, sale, treatment, and release of aquatic organisms where you live. The presence of information about a species does not mean that possessing or trading it is lawful in your jurisdiction.
11. Changes and severability
The current version of these terms applies from the update date displayed here. If one provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply.
